The
Communications module consists of a base module which is used for definition purposes and common
functions plus three individual sub-modules:
EDI
Interoffice
Portable Data Entry
EDI
·
This sub-module provides processing facilities for
interfacing LBS to 3rd party EDI software for the receipt and
acknowledgement of purchase orders.
·
Order details are passed to LBS by the 3rd
part software in an agreed format which enables the translation of the EDI data
into familiar customer, item details for processing within LBS without the
necessity to re-key data
·
Order details are checked for Trading term,
promotion and price compliance before being accepted for further processing.
·
Stocked Items are checked against the availability
of stock.
·
Over-ride facilities exist to ensure orders are not
held up due to timing of other functions such as promotions, stock receipting etc.
·
Order acknowledgement facilities are available if
required (eg. Woolworths)
·
Incoming data can contain LBS, Customer or Vendor
item codes or Inner or Outer TUN codes.
Provided the relevant code is defined within LBS the details will be
translated to the required code for processing.
INTEROFFICE
·
This sub-module provides the necessary processing
to enable the export/import of LBS related data between one or more subsiduary
locations (eg. branch offices)
PORTABLE DATA ENTRY
·
This sub-module provides the necessary processing
to enable the export/import of LBS related data between one or more portable
data entry devices (eg. hand held computers)
