UBF Software Version 6.00 Upgrade

Lobby,
in conjunction with dennis, keenan & associates pty ltd, announce the
General Availability of Version 6.00 of the UBF software.
The
UBF software has been extensively upgraded to include the necessary processing
to enable the 'uploading' of item, price and promotional data to the EANnet
v2.00 industry catalogue.
The
EANnet Solution is distributed as a chargeable,
'add-in' module to the base UBF software.
UBF
Version 6.00 will be released in two stages commencing 30th April
2002.
Stage
I
This stage includes all of the relevant
processing required to 'upload' item data to the EANnet v2.00 catalogue.
It
requires the user to complete the entry of additional fields which were not
previously included in the UBF database.
Once entered, these fields, in conjunction with previously existing data, is
used to create submissions which can then be sent to EAN using FTP (File
Transfer Protocol).
FTP
processing is included in this stage and this has been designed to reduce the
amount of user intervention to a bare minimum.
Submissions
created are retained within the UBF database in a similar manner to the existing
paper-based submissions. This
provides an audit trail of the data sent to EAN for checking and validation
purposes.
Extensive editing and validation of the entered data is undertaken to ensure
that the submission data, when sent is correct.
Access
to the EANnet functions is password protected to ensure only authorised details
are available for transmission to EANnet.
To
use the EANnet functions and facilities which are external to the UBF software,
such as EAN membership registration, mail box access etc, requires you to
contact both EAN (Australia) and GEIS prior to creating and sending submissions
from the UBF.
Stage
I also includes an Import facility which allows for the importing of data from
other databases into the UBF. This includes all of the additional data elements required by EANnet v2.00.
Stage
II
This
stage will include all of the relevant processing required to 'upload' price and
promotional data to the EANnet v2.00 catalogue.
This
stage will also include any corrections, amendments or fixes which are required
as a result of installing Stage I.
Programming
and database changes to support Stage II have been completed but access to these
functions has been restricted for the time being.
The
expected release date for Stage II is 31st May 2002.
Releasing
the UBF software in stages is designed to allow the initial upgrade time to
settle down and for any errors or problems to be rectified prior to commencing
the task of 'uploading' sensitive price and promotional data to EANnet.
Experience
gained from the installation and use of Stage I will be invaluable when fully
committed to Stage II.

Both
Stages I & II are included in the cost of the UBF Version 6.00 EANnet
module.
Prerequisite
In order to upgrade to version 6.00 you must currently be using UBF version 4.00
If
you are not currently using version 4.00 then you need to also purchase the
previously released version 3.nn upgrades for an additional cost, this is
reflected in the price above. Use
the Help option from the UBF menu and select ‘About the UBF’ to check your
version.
Support
Annual Support for the base UBF software remains at $ 275.00

Version
6.00 includes Web and FTP based support facilities for Annual Support
subscribers.
Current
Annual Support includes upgrades to the base UBF software but specifically
excludes 'add-in' or additional modules such as EANnet which must be purchased
separately. Once
purchased additional modules become part of the base UBF software and are then
upgraded free of additional charge.
You
should be aware that several changes are already planned for the EANnet
catalogue which will involve further upgrades to the UBF.
There will be a fee for any future changes unless you are covered by
Annual Support subscription.
Support
for ALL versions prior to Version 6.00 will be withdrawn as at 1st
June 2002.
